While there is no established major for Pre-Law students here at Utah Tech University, we suggest students chose a major which interest them and select supplemental elective courses from the following areas: Communication, Criminal Justice, Philosophy, Political Science, English, or any other course geared toward helping them achieve their educational goals.
Curriculum guidance is readily available and students considering entering the legal profession are urged to consult with a pre-law advisor early in their undergraduate career.
The student’s undergraduate GPA and their score on the Law School Admission Test (LSAT) are the primary factors on which law school admission decisions are based. Although other matters such as work experience, community service, personal statement, resume, recommendations, and leadership experience are also considered by law school selection committees, the importance of these two factors cannot be overestimated.
Additionally, we advise students to begin preparing for Law School the moment they have decided. Even if students are not completely sure, the time to prepare is now.
